Magicjack ripoff

Magic jack PLUS power adapter failed, causing flashing blue light. They shipped a new adapter, but the Magic Jack devise was damaged from the faulty adapter. After two days of customer support chat, they finally agreed to replace the device, but I had to pay $9.95 for shipping and I am without my phone service for nearly two weeks. Magic Jack has always had problems and they rip people off with their slow and time wasting technical support chat and the replacement parts costs add up to what a standard land line phone company would charge. BEWARE of Magic Jack. You really do get what you pay for, except with Magic Jack, you actually pay for more than you get.

MagicJack - a failure to provide service as advertised

I bought MagicJack thinking that it would be a cost effective way to have VOIP services for my home business. The problem is that it doesn't work. The service won't stay connected, and I can't call anyone out of state. When I try to call out of state I receive a message telling me that I have to go to the site and prepay for minutes to make this call. This is NOT free long-distance as advertised on their website. There technical support is useless, and they will not issue refunds for prepaid services even though they are failing to provide the service as advertised. Honestly, it is time for a class action lawsuit.

I have been using magicjack for 4 years without major problems. Talking to help via chat requires patience, but my issues have been resolved.

I've found that most of those who have difficulty with magicjack usually do not have decent ISP speed. As to the issue in this post, I've never encountered a problem with long distance calling in the USA.

They do, however, charge an additional fee for calls made internationally.

I'm happy for you. I have ATT DSL - their fastest package.

I've spent more than 18 hours with support via Chat and have not had my problem resolved. I would LOVE to be a happy MagicJack customer - but I'm not . So far, they keep telling me that if I am receiving that message to purchase minutes when I dial the numbers I am trying to call that I need to purchase minutes to complete the call.

Now, having done further research on my own - I have found that what the actual problem may be is the Linksys Router that I have, apparently the service does not work with all makes and models of routers. But one would think if their are incompatible routers that they would have a listing of compatible routers in their knowledge base.

I have been using MagicJack for 5 years it was difficult at first but no problems sense. I am tempted to dump centurylink's land line.

Magic Jack drops phone calls incessantly. | Magicjack in Los Angeles, California

I purchased Magic Jack the beginning of this year so that i might save on my telephone land line. Magic Jack otherwise known as magic ***, has dropped my telephone calls every day since we purchased this device. I have spent hours and hours with their technical support. They have not managed to ever address the problem. The only technical support is through a chat, and this has been completely inept. This is the worst service, worst rip off. Should held accountable, and shut down for good. I intend to contact the BBB and all other agencies that might help in disabling this misleading company.

I live in Canada and I also did not get the 30 day trial. It starts the day you order even if you did not recieve the product.

They tell you that they cannot do anything about it because it is system generated. Also, what I've heard is that your 30 day money back guarantee starts the day you order as well. Last but not least, your shipment is not guaranteed to come within 10 business days. Read the fineprint!.

It could possibly take more than a month and they bill you after a month since you ordered it.

Magic Jack service is horrible. Do not buy if you're looking for good service.

Some advice for MAGICJACK pres. & hint 4Users

Number one tip that may help MAC users. I have had MJ for 4 months. I sort of like it but have had problems. I am also a stockholder (CALL). I have written the CEO and complained 1) poor technical solutions 2) overbilling esp for shipping (that's FRAUD dear Pres.) 3) Very Poor Tech Support and Website. + Rude Techs. My tip is my MJ wouldn't dial from the phone or get calls from the phone. I was online for three hours with 3 "VERY ***" TECHS> They couldn't solve the problem but I did. I found out "BONJOUR" had been shut down "not actively running" in preferences. I restarted "BONJOUR" and my MJ is back in action. These techs follow a book like the old AOL techs who screwed up everyones computers. The new president should read this stuff or continue to suffer complaints and future law class actions. after a couple of months doing research about the magicJack's hidden charges. i have been supported by agent's from the PHILIPPINES..i have chatted with a call center agent and knew that she is working as a customer service rep in KUDO SUPPORT INC. which deals with technical and billing support. billing support is only loacted in MEPZ1,lapulapu city, cebu, philippines. this is the company website: www.kudosupport.com-in the video are the billing representative which says they are headquartered in FL. technical support are located in India and Philippines (Davao and Cebu) Better check this out!!!

I spent over 5 hours trying on line trying to find out why I could not place calls. After 30 seconds the calls were dropped and the dial tone came on. Technical support was no help. They did not know how to correct the problem. I guess I was a fool not to know better....

The problem with the horrific "tech support" live chat is that the company simply does not care. They are making a ton of $$$ from the devices they sell that DO work, therefore the 20% or so that don't work are no big deal to them.

They created a fake tech support department just so they can say they have one, but as everyone knows, that live chat support is completely useless. Magic Jack doesn't care - why should they? The only thing that will make them care is if a similar competing product comes along and they're forced to run their company correctly. Remember back in the 1970's when Chrysler said that a 10% failure rate on their automobiles was "acceptable"?

They didn't care at all until the Japanese came along. Magic Jack will get smacked into reality at some point, but for now they are content to sell a poorly-tested product because the few that do work are making them lots of money.
