I downloaded their "free" magicApp a little over year ago and paid the extra $9.99 for sms service. At the expiration of the sms service, I couldn't text anymore, but the line was still working.
I decided to sign up with a traditional mobile phone service provider and tried to port the phone number I'd been using for over a year to the new provider. At which time, without any warning, MagicJack disables my service, all my text messages, along with my phone contacts, gone. To top it off, they REFUSE to port my phone number to the new provider, saying that I don't own that number because I didn't pay for it.
In the meantime, when I call my number number, my voicemail is still on and recording messages. Which means anyone who calls me are leaving messages that is being recorded by Magicjack.
Is what they are doing even legal?
