Magicjack and hidden cost that needs to be factored in

The device broken after 8 month. The customer service wants shipping fee to have the replacement sent to me. It is amazing to me that warranty service require shipping charges. Good luck with yours orders, but please know that it might breaks every year. you need to factor the shipping cost back and forth into the purchase and yearly fee. The prior ip phone devices made by Linksys worked for 5 years without issues. Regretting that I changed to Magicjack now and unknown cost going forward. I asked if there is anything the representative and the supervisor can do. Answer was no, very disappointing. Asked if they can help extend my service for a year, no. if they can sent me a better device, unsure. It doesn't sound like supervisor is able to do anything different than a normal rep, or they are just unwilling to do anything, or they just don't care. The end result is you get charged the fee and most like it will fail again, then you would need to buy new device again for $40, which if it happens every other years is actually more expensive than other phone services and more headache...

Magic jack didn't work at all chat lived with 15 different people in 2 days in hold forever some of them never came back to the phone again problem never got solve I chat lived with different people again to cancel services after trying continuously to solve from with no resolve a month and half later after cancelling service no refund of any money back to me & they want to charge me extra $30 to release my phone number after they keep my money no good customer service , steal from people horrible people working there they don't even want to talk to you like human being in a phone all they want to do is live chat with you but the problem is never taking care off. Don't recommended this company to my worst enemie!!

Okay let me try this again.

Have you tried going to the Magic Jack site, then go to bottom of the page and find Support FAQ click on it, once there in search tab type (Magic Jack Upgrade) click. Find the one that states (Upgrade Magic Jack Firmware) and install.

I had a problem like your and talking to their Tech. Support didn't help. They had not clue. So I looked around the FAQ page for awhile found that they had a new interface firmware upgrade.

If you are techie this easy to understand, but for novices computer user. Novice wouldn't understand and shouldn't be expect to understand, that the old interface won't work with the new firmware interface, because they are two different codes.

So they can't read each other.

Magic Jack at least needs to train their Tech. Support teach better at trouble shooting.

Magicjack in Saint George, Utah - Magic Jack Scam, Don't care about Customer Service!

Dad died, left his Magic Jack Plus to me, I tried to register his account in my name explaining the situation (their chat people really only have canned answers and no one in authority). After a lengthy chat and being transferred to a second agent, they dropped my chat saying I did not respond, (blatantly untrue). I tried again, being as succinct as possible. The outcome was the same, you cannot get satisfaction in the chat. They are cold computer like people, devoid of personal concern. I could not get a satisfactory result. Value shown below includes MJPlus unit & 2 hours of my time, which has been courteously under valued.

magic jack is a fraud. they should be investigated. They take your money out of your account even before the 30 days was up and than they claim they got the product back a day late when it was signed the day of. But to try to get through to anyone in the company is worthless as they do not even have a tel #. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT as their is no customer service and they can care less about it. Then they wonder why so many people are upset about buying american. Again do not buy this product.

Do not use magicjack

I have had majicjack for about 4 years now, I have bought over 12 devices from them, turned several of my clients and friends in to believers. i had so much faith in magicjack that I bought their shares! NO MORE though!, I have been burned and will now spread the word. i understand everyone has issues at some point or the other, the problem is the fact that MAJICJACK CUSTOMER CARE ARE UNABLE TO SOLVE ANY PROBLEM. all the can do is give you the run around and cut off your call or chat if you ask too many questions. I use magicjack for all my business phones and fax and for a week now I HAVE NOT HAD A BUSINESS PHONE NOR FAX. CAN'T EVEN FORWARD MY CALLS! it's such a shame all i get from the is: "your account is under review". review for what?! Please learn from me(a 4 year magickjack customer): 1. Magicjack SHOULD NEVER BE USED FOR BUSINESS 2. DO not expect ANY kind of customer support 3. It should only be used as a money saving backup to your other phone line and never the primary or sole phone line. 4. Once again, NEVER AS YOU BUSINESS PHONE NUMBER. IT WILL KILL YOUR BUSINESS.

Magicjack in Orlando, Florida - NOT taking care of the problem

My complaint to MJ In March 2012, I have bought two MJs and since I am using the MJ as my regular telephone connection, I have PROBLEMS receiving or making phone calls. ALL calls, INcoming or OUTgoing, are CUT OFF several times - NOT even lasting a full minute. This is happening to local or long distance calls - in order to have any conversation, either I, or the other party has to REdial because the connection is INTERRUPTET without warning. The callers from EUROPE receive some recording right of way when dialing my number WITHOUT getting a ring on my end BUT, right of way, I am getting THE VOICE MAIL message from MJ sent to my Email - of course, without a message from the caller - since they did not even get a ring from my end of the line. The voice mail message COMES ON RIGHT OF WAY when someone is trying to reach me - their call DOES NOT REACH MY HOME !! - again, it does not matter if it is a LOCAL or LONG DISTANCE call. Many times, when I try to make a call, I get a recording from MJ "Check your internet connection or visit MJ Customer Care". This is another impossible task a MJ customer is subjected to: Being on CHAT with a so called "MJ Specialist / Representative" for HOURS (where he/she tells the customer what to change and check on the actual MJ hook-up or on the customer's computer and NOT gettting ANY results - THE PROBLEMS are still THE SAME! NOT being able to receive phone calls nor placing calls without problems. MJ is NOT producing what it advertises but taking my money. I am requesting, either getting this problem corrected immediately, or return my money. Regards, E. k.

MagicJack Plus non-connection probs

I purchased a Magicjack Plus and tried to register the device. After filling in all the details, credit card info, I got the message to say I was registered. As soon as I tried to use it it ask me to registrt again, this I did several times using different Credit cards and email addresses but not luck. I have contacted the on-line support probably 10 times. I get the usual run around, my situation is on priority, havs gone to a higher level, watch for an email. No-one can tell me what the problem is. Someone remotely connected look at some network setting and then just gave up and disconnected with out letting me know. Everyone you talk to tells you it has gone to a higher department which makes me think the service desk is in India or some othet remote place. The verbage used gives it away. I have used Magic jack before and was quite happy not sure what the problem is this time. I think it's about get the money from the customer, if it works great if not who cares!!!! If you contact the accounts dept they fob you off to the on-line people who.....yes you guest it DON"T CARE.

Magicjack Plus you'd have to be a magician to get the *** think to work

Bought the MJ+ in February and hooked to router. right from the start it continually dropped calls, the sound quality and sound levels were terrible. next day i could not receive any land line calls, so after a hour in the online chat room it did finally get resolved, then more issues of dropped calls, sound quality... back to the online chat room, continually being asked to hook the mj+ to the computer, numerous changes to settings in the router, with no help i might ad to repair the dropped calls and sound quality. its almost like the mj+ plus is not perfected enough to be a stand alone device hooked to the router but more so like the old mj hooked to your computer. anyway the final straw was lately we could not receive calls again from anyone and no one had any answers. this is the worst experience ive ever had with an electronic item. the customer service is the worst in the industry, once they have your money i do not think they care what issues your having.

:( I have been using MagicJack for a number of years. Several months ago I "upgraded" to MagicJack Plus but I couldn't get a connection even after talking to four (4) different MJ techs.

I asked for a refund but they wouldn't give me.

I contested the charge with my credit card company and they reversed the charge. Now MJ does not want to renew my regular MJ because I questioned their MJ Plus.

Sent mj back due to poor audio. Had old # tranfered to mj.

Am onw without ANY land line service till phone co. can re-establish -about 10 days. Customer service with mj is a complete lie. DON'T FALL FOR THIS ITEM.

Phone number sends you to computer with canned responsis that don't help. Email is a farce - no reply EVER.

Magicjack in Old Town, Maine - Magic Jack

Up until Mar. 8th I was able to use my Magic Jack. On that day I could receive and make long distance and local calls. I've had this since Oct. of 2011 and it has been working fine. I couldnt call locally. I tried on line chat but they didnt seem to solve the problem or even care. They are a service that should be looked into. I've contacted the FCC and filed a complaint. Dont buy this product you will be very disappointed if you try to get customer service. I wont restitution from this company.My Magic Jack is the regular one not the plus.
