9. MagicJack is a Fraud

1. The 30 day free trial is next to impossible. They make sure their links don’t work.

2. Their 30 day free trial STARTS when you order, NOT when you activate, which is not what you are told if you ask them.

3. They lie, provide false information.

4. Their International calling rates are DOUBLE other VOIP competition.

5. They infect your computer with advertising, makes your computer impossible to use when starting up or when making a call.

6. They play “The Visa Game”, thats right, bill you for renewals after cancelling! Even if you change your card, thats right! My Visa card had lots of complaints and gave me lots of information.

YOU MUST send a letter to them cancelling any further right to bill your card.

7. You must return their jacks, a post office receipt is sufficient.

8. VISA will charge them back if they fail to refund within 30 days of a reasonable return shipping time.

9. Play the VISA game right back. Thats why you use a VISA to protect yourself.

10. They refuse to allow “adapters” or VOIP WiFi phones. That really ***.

11. Their entire organization appears based on FRAUD , it may be legal step by step but overall

it has the effect of failing to honor standard business practice to the point that

DAN is loosing credibility and soon MagicJack will be known as one of America’s most

Fraudulent organizations. I’ve had it with DAN, I wish I had never heard of these creeps.

12. They actually think consumers like me will take it up the rear end.

Sorry, I intend making a very large number of posts and contacting every single

news organization that gave them publicity. Those news organizations need to

pull their plugs and demand that Magicjack remove them.

MAgic Jack does not deserve any reccomendations by the press.

I recommend VOIPBUSTERS.com or one of the many other good businesses that provide

genuine value with out all the misleading deception and outright fraud.

Use VOIPO. This surpasses Vonage, and it's still privately owned.

In my research this evening, post-Magic Jack debacle, I researched the website and then spent a considerable amount of time talking with someone from customer support. I'd be curious to see if sales support is not local to each state, as opposed to a call center, but regardless, this is what is making VOIPO's business model work. You're paying for two years and its 30 day begins the day of purchase as well. HOWEVER, a number can immediately be issued to you and therefore, this is not covert or furtive.

It's not blatant disregard for a contract of 104 weeks, 24 months. You do have service but the number, if you're keeping the same one that you have, takes a few weeks. Otherwise, you really do have a legit 30 day MBG (money back guarantee).

My only advice to others is to use American Express. You need to purchase with a credit card company that is going to support you and/or your business(es).

That means they know JUNK when they see it. Use a credit card that supports YOU, the consumer. FRAUD shows INTENT.

There is no trial period until the product can be TRIED.

I returned the magic jack on Friday October 30th. Took it to the post office and they marked it refused.

I ordered MJ on the 12th of the month and was told, via email, that it had to be returned by the fifth of the next month. This does not add up to 30 days.

So if you are going to return it, do so fast. Keep up with the tracking info, get email updates, so you will have proof of delivery.

Anyone that is happy with MJ as I was renewed for 5 years and all *** broke lose. They could not get the MJ to work even trying to go into my computer.

3 weeks and still waiting for MJ to port my number.

Finally just cancelled it and asked for a refund.

This is there answer "I can try to report your concern about the refund that you are requesting, however, I cannot assure you that you will be refunded because the 5 year plan is a package deal if you check it the 5 year plan was already used I mean it was all ready deducted. Of course I will go after them, they are not going to steal my money.

I was only trying to pay my bill and on that website they order two magic jack did not give my money back and the company was determined to send to my house dirty and said I have to pay them to get my own money back on my credit card. plus live chat does not work and to many numbers to solve a case. plus they as try to hick my computer on some crazy website I was shock and surprise looking dissed.

Things seem to have improved with the company as of 2014.

The Magic Jack Plus is my main phone now and for the $30 per YEAR it's a fine deal. It is a small black computer connected to my router and it's on the battery backup so for 90 minutes on power outage I still have internet and phone.

It runs very hot so I connected a USB fan to the router and set it next to the MJ+ to preserve it's life span (heat KILLS electronics).

It has brief delay (0.5-2 seconds) on incoming call from my one friend but outgoing calls are fine. There were problems last year with reflected calls where I hear me talking to me and some stuttering quality but for 2014 the quality has greatly improved and not one reflection problem.

Maybe the MJ+ was overheating and the fan I added solved these problems or the company improved the service.

In summary, I'm not going back to AT&T, signing up for Charter phone because for home use the MJ+ is fine and I can take it with me if I have to. I have an easy to remember new phone number and am satisfied.

Now it got lost in the mail going back so dealing with the US post nightmare

I appreciate your comments and have had numerous problems with the company also! My unit stopped working and because you can't speak with anyone they have promised me four times to replace it and even charged me for shipping back on September 19th, 2013.

I spoke to them (chat only) on five occasions and every time they have apologized and promised me to replace the unit, still no replacement!!!!!

Frustration (it's a business line) and the feeling of hopelessness!! they truly are a company that doesn't care about integrity, honesty or commitment!

If you do not have active MagicJack number can not be ported out. They will charge $29.95 for a year subscription + $30 for porting out number even you have active number without active MagicJack.

The product does not work, their billing chat does not work, they disconnect the phone before you can connect with billing. Tech support drops the calls if they cannot fix your problem.

This company needs to go out of business!

They started to try and charge me to access a number that is an access number for an international LD card, but it is a local number (my area code, and we had dialed it before with no issues. *** on Magic Jack.

Support says I cannot return it. WANNA BET?????

I am sorry about people like me who just don't know how to go about doing things. I am very happy with my Magic Jack.

I have four of them and they are worth every penny. In the beginning it was a bit rough trying to get ahold of someone, but now it is much better. So long as you have constant internet you don't have a problem. I find my Magic Jack useful in many ways.

The only thing I don't like is the inability to forward calls without paying for each call and I don't like the fact that I can't seem to make three way calls. Other than that, at 29 dollars a year for my renewals, I pay that for my stand alone phone from charter for just one month. You can't beat the value.

I think they rock. :) :)

This complaint is a pack of...sorry...LIES. I have dealt with MagicJack for years (since 2008) and NONE of the above is true.

It works, it doesn't mess with my computer, and their return link works perfectly.

And I ORDERED IT OVER A MONTH AGO. It's not a perfect product, but the company certainly is innocent of all these accusations.
