Another cheated customer by Magicjack

I saw the informercial and thought "WOW" what a great product. And I get to try it free for 30 days? I ordered right away. JULY 6, 2007. On july 7 I was billed for shipping. I got my 2 magic jacks (one for my son in the navy) quick. Plugged it in and "BAM" Ihad this great product. Until my computer crashed. Fixed my computer, plugged back in, nothing. went to magic fix. Fixed the problem. After a few days, I decided I didn't want to leave my computer on 24/7 for a phone, and obviously my son in the navy couldn't either. sSo I decided I would send it back. That was 23 days into a 30 day free trial. I jumped through every hoop they asked me to and sent my magicjack back. on day 29, after my magicjack was aleardy in there hands, I was billed 90 some dollars. Wait, I thought this was a 30 day free trial. Well, their live chat help was useless. There escalation process to a supervisor was usless. After 1 and a half hours on line with them, I wanted to send in a formal complaint. They REFUSED togive me their business address. She (andrea) was willing to say they had one, but refused to give it to me. I am very frustrated with this company as they falsly advertised a free trial, billed me before it was up, gave me the run around about my refund, and threatened, " I will end this chat right now" when I told them I was going to write this review. NOW, I wonder if I will ever see my money again. I think this product is great, but the company selling it is un-ethical. They WILL cheat you if given the chance.

Magicjack in Glendale, Arizona - False Advertising on Magic Jack site and no phone number.

I clicked on the free trial offer on the Magic Jack website (the website said the offer was ending that day), but when I got to the billing page, it showed that it was going to bill me now, not after the 30 day free trial. So, I did not click on any kind of confirm or authorize button, or even a next button, instead I went back into the site, read more about the product and decided not to order. Next morning I found they had put a hold on my account. Couldn't get a phone number to speak to a person, but went thru live chat and was told the order, which I did not intend to place, would be canceled. Unfortunately it still has not been resolved and they still have a hold on my account. The fact that they won't give you a phone number also makes me nervous (I asked the chat support tech for one and they refused). Also I notice that the website is still offering the 'free trial' and it still claims that whatever day you enter the site is the last day!

Magicjack in Edison, New Jersey - Magic Jack Sucks

I ordered the Magic Jack, what a pos. I plugged it in an it lit up. I didn't install. I reset my comp and it set my hard drive back to default. Lost all my files. I just sent it back. I'll keep you up to date about it. If I don't get my money back I'll take a trip down to FL and pay them a visit. I thought it would be good to have a 20 a year phone bill. Not worth the head ache. Do not buy this product. Before you buy something look it up online.

Magicjack in Tupelo, Mississippi - Unreiliable connections

Received magic jack and hooked it up to the computer. The didn't have my area code available, so I contacted customer "Dis-"service at live chat and asked to cancel. They convinced me to keep it because my area code was due to be added to the list. When it finally was about 3 months later, I hooked up the magic jack and made a few test calls. It seemed to work OK. Then it just stopped working. I had a dial tone, I could make calls (even though I had to dial the area code for local numbers), but I could not receive calls. Had no luck with live chat. The missed calls don't even go to voice mail, I just get a recording saying the call can't go through, try again later. Every time the computer goes into "sleep mode", the magic jack stops working completely and won't work when the computer "wakes up". It doesn't start working again unless I restart the computer. And sometimes, not even then.

Hi........I have been trying to get thru to tech support for days.........as far as I am concerned the support S---s I have had bad calls, dialtone and no connection, now it will not even bring up the keypad........if you are a novice stay away..........cause I'm a tech and it screws up all the time........Bye for now..........Doug

Magicjack in Stone Mountain, Georgia - Broken c-o-nectio-n

I know people that have cable internet connection. They claim that they have no problems with magicJack. I am running the phone with a DSL connection using a cordless base. My magicjack has a steamy *** broken up connection. I was told by a friend that uses a special internet phone that she used when she had vontage. I went to her house and her connection is great. I think I'll try buying another phone, and if that don't work. Ill get comcast high speed internet because in the back of my mind sort have wondered if magicJack would run better using cable. We have to try what we can since we have no technical support.

I purchased a magic jack 3 years ago and threw it away 2 and 1/2 years ago there is NO customer service at all could not use my computer and the phone at the same time would cut my call off and you could hear every thing/movement from the computer through the phone and then it would cut you off mine had a problem from the day I received it no replacement NO customer service can't even get anyone one the phone I'm still waiting for my replacement and now they have magic jack plus!! Plus what 30 sec more before it kicks you off?

what a rip off do not purchase this item it is a rip off. I bought 2 new phone I purchased faster internet speed absolutely nothing worked and no one that I had to type a conversation with could help and told me I would receive a call back how then dont have a *** phone!!

VERY ANGRY ended up costing me quite a bit of money and still had to go with my internet providers phone!!!!! Please send my replacement asap and make sure the *** thing works

MagicJack - Beware - problems

Don't forget to use the validation email first to activate. BUT after I did that and clicked on the provider link also - I STILL had problems. Everyone I have called says they can't hear me. I adjusted the volume on the onscreen menu - but STILL no go. The directions are very confusing and there is no booklet included with troubleshooting tips. Very annoying trying to figure out by yourself. I am concerned about getting my money back after reading all the complaints online. Going to call local tv station / radio help line if this doesn't get resolved.

While I've had some minimal 'issues' this product is a GREAT deal. $3.88/month for 1st year or $1.00/month with the 5 year plan. I'll 'suffer' a little for that savings.

Also, I just hooked up a CRICKET wireless device and the magicJack works like a champ!!!

Come on really how can you complain?

i am very pissed,i ordered magicjack and didn't have it for thirty days and was charged 69.85 i returned the product and have not received a refund nor can we contact a live person for any customer service i am very pissed.my credit card was charged before thirty days.i will not recommend doing business with this company when ordering i was told i had thirty days to try before i buy not! magic needs to provide consumers with a valid customer service number so that you can talk to a live person pleases use caution when ordering

Magicjack in Atlanta, Georgia - Magikjack do not buy it

Magikjack works only for a few days. After I got "error broken storage" message and both my MJ phone and my voice mail stopped working. Customer - no service is almost impossible to reach. you just keep chasing the icon "talk to live person" and it takes you to an other pop up window. What's worse my voice mail stopped working and nobody can answer to the ad I have paid for. If you need a toy buy it but do not use as contact for bussiness. If you ever have heard of Sun Rocket MJ is worse than that. Only cheaper.

i have had two of these first one disapeared. before it disapeared i tried to use it and found out there were no numbers availble.

one year later we see there are some area codes availble so we buy another, same problem no numbers availble anywhere in our area or other area codes in washington state.

the software has no exit button, once you start it you cant turn it off without cntrl alt del end task (registration software) cant register it cause no phone numbers availble, what good is this jack if you cant use it cause no phone numbers?? dont buy it till you make sure there are numbers availble!

I've gotten charged for two magicjacks and service for a year (over a $100) and I have yet to receive even on magic jack. I am pissed.

I have had Magicjack for about 2 weeks now and I am thrilled. It works EXACTLY as it was advertised. I have also contacted their customer service 2 times via the online link and was connected to a live agent within 1 minute(wanted to know how much for international rates, 2 cents per minute to Norway and free to Guam)

I am very sorry that you have been having problems, but I must say it has been a very happy experience for me.

For $46 dollars(after shipping) what do you have to lose?

Magicjack in Burlington, Vermont - Customer Service problems

I purchased the magic jack several months ago and the price then was half what people are paying now. I had a heart attack and have been sidelined until a few days ago when i started trying to get magic jack to work. The system installs ok and I can get the softpad to appear on screen, but it is locked into the headset mode and cannot transfer to telephone connection. Dealing with customer service for numerous hours for the past few business days and can get no satisfaction. A tech will help me for awhile and then pass me to another one and the situation just continues to repeat itself. Not the least bit happy with their customer service system, because it does not exist. But then who does customer service anymore, just be leary and try to talk with others have already tried to use the magic jack before purchasing.

Magicjack company is a scam please do not order it

The device did not work properly when we installed it. There was a delay and an echo and it would randomly turn off. I would not be aware that it was off until someone would call me on my cell phone and tell me that my phone was not working. This went on for a week and I decided to send it back. That is where the problem began. Bottom line no matter what you say they will not give you your money back. They continue to charge my account every month even though it was only to be a one time charge.
